Leading the Way in Sustainability
Sustainability is a hot topic at the moment for companies and consumers alike – for many reasons. In the last few years, people have rightly become more concerned with the environment and what can be done to live a ‘greener’ lifestyle. This, coupled with the rising energy prices and increased cost of living, has led to greater awareness of energy usage and a drive towards living more sustainably.
It’s something that we’re committed to here at FastFrame – and we share this with our partners at Deceuninck too. In fact, one of their (and our) primary ambitions is to lead the way for sustainable building materials in the industry, shining a light on just how important this is for tradespeople and homeowners alike.
For more information about this commitment and for some key statistics, Deceuninck created and shared an excellent report on sustainability to demonstrate this. We’ve summarised some of the most prevalent points below so you can consider how this relates to your business, as it relates to ours, and make the right decision to work with FastFrame on your next and future sustainable building projects.
Key Facts
Heating and the energy supply to buildings is one of the leading uses of all gas and oil reserves, making up around 40% of the total. And only 4% of this reserve goes into the production of plastics, with just 1% for PVC specifically. So while it isn’t a huge, leading contributor, it’s still a factor that Deceuninck – and by extension, ourselves – are of course looking to cut down on.
Sustainability comes from not only manufacturing but also usage – and therefore wastage. This is a key factor for customers too, so they know that their investment will stand the test of time. On average, new PVC windows will last for around 50 years. During this time, they will help to reduce energy consumption, being both sustainable themselves and driving sustainability in their usage around the home.
From use to reuse, recycling is another top consideration. The PVC elements of these windows can become recycled into PVC granules. These broken-down components will then be reused at least seven times to create new window profiles and continue the sustainability cycle for manufacturers and customers alike.
Creating Eco-Friendly Homes
When manufactured and installed correctly with sustainability in mind, PVCu and aluminium windows are a great way to create a more eco friendly lifestyle – sustainable not only in how they are made, but in what they can do for you. By investing in new double glazed windows, homeowners are able to reduce their carbon footprint and their energy bills – both of which are important considerations now more than ever.
We don’t need to educate you on the ways that double glazing reduces heat loss and keeps warm air inside the home. But the same might not be able to be said for your customers. Many homeowners simply are not aware of the benefits of replacement windows and why sustainable windows and doors are so important from an ecological and economical perspective.
That’s why we’re proud to lead the way in sustainability all through the process, from our windows’ manufacture by Deceuninck to their installation by our trade customers. We believe in educating the industry on the importance of sustainable windows and doors, so you can communicate these key messages to your team and therefore your customers too. With all our efforts combined, we’ll be working effectively towards a brighter, greener future.
What We Do
It’s not just our windows and doors that are sustainable. No – we’re proud to lead the way in sustainable practices in our day to day workings. Just as our products are recyclable, we’re mindful of our own recycling and waste processing around the office and factory, making sure to recycle wherever possible. Often, the first step towards making a positive change is being aware of it, so we’re more conscious of our ecological footprint and legacy than ever.
If you want to join our mission for sustainable windows, doors and practices throughout the industry, we welcome you to get in touch with us. Talk to our great and ‘green’ team about your next project and discover how our products are the perfect fit for you.
